Yankee winter meeting

So as always the New York Yankees were in a no win situation. The winter meetings ended with the Yankees getting the pticher that was #1 on their wish list, a solid offer that rumors have as the most likely winning bid for Burnett who was #2 on the list. They seem to be on the edge of getting a more solid performing center fielder. What does this all add up to? They Yankees over paid, we have don't build from within, we have no economic reality.

Well, lets say we didn't get CC, we low ball AJ and let the braves have him, and we ignore a real solid trade. Now the same people say, CC doesn't want to play in NY, we showed no respect to AJ or worse we are just as stupid as last year when we didn't pick up Santana. An 2 days into the season when Melky has his first error or is batting .050, and everyone wants to know why we didn't shore up the outfield.

And this is just what the Red Sox fans who work and report on ESPN will be saying.

I just loved the last night when a reporter from Florida was commenting on how the Marlins should stop complaining, because if the Yankees don't spend then the luxury tax won't net Marlins as much money, which actually may be lower because even with these deals (if they all happen) the yankees total 09 payroll could be lower than 2008. The best part of the discussion was the ESPN report literally cutting him off and stoping the interview. Guess, they should have told the FL reporter that this was the anti yankee channel of ESPN.....

Here's to hoping AJ says yes, Pettite wakes up, and Cashman is forced by Hal to sign Manny. Yes i love the idea of Manny playing for the Yankees. Granted partially for his awesome bat, but mainly because how can you not love a Red Sox player (while he was still in Boston) stating he ultimately wanted to play in NYC for the Yankees.
